Disasters, Catastrophes, The American choices 

American’s choose to be ignorant. Global warming is affecting American life. Pollution is causing ailments to many citizens. America produces unnecessary air ground and water pollution. America consumes more energy and resources then can produce. The citizens of the world are affected by everyone’s choices. Currently the earth is undergoing a major climatic shift. The shift is causing large regions to become uninhabitable. Starvation, disease and death are also occurring in regions around the world. Science has proven that humans influence there local environment. Science has also proven that local environments make up the whole of the earth’s systems. Man kind is connected to each other and to the earth. Preservation of human kind can only be done through the preservation of the earth.

 Around the globe groups, countries, individuals are creating a set of guidelines to follow. These guidelines are to prevent and slow climatic shifts. Laws and policies are set to follow stricter guidelines. An increase in research for alternative energy is on the rise as well on global climatic changes.  These actions are being taken in hopes to preserve he human way of life as we know it now. 

America has the power to change. American through the organization of individuals, America can become the leader in the fight against earth degradation. Northeastern states and western state are creating there own regulations on energy consumption and pollution.

Americas Psyche

The American bully, self absorbed pride. American citizen have uncontrolled freedom, meaning communities are no longer a source of regulation. Communities use to regulate crime, trash, development and human behavior. A person moves towns about once every  5 years, causing communities to lose connectedness. One in seven American households moved in 1999 (U.S. Census Bureau). A caring educated community is a strong force. American sprawl uses more energy then it creates. Suburbia sprawl causes longer commutes to work, building more roads and infrastructures. A single house hold in America rarely supplies anything for its self and uses more than it needs. American manufacturing companies are creating more junk, items that will fail within two years, such as car tires and designer apparel. Living in the 21st century and we still waste time and energy  for the cause of capitalism. Roadways are become more and more dangerous, the SUV craze of the 90’s made sure of it. I don’t want to mention economics too much , however  the richer purchase large cars and the poor small cars, when there is an accident the poor are hurt the most, simple physics. Why are American citizens selfish  and careless? In 1998, approximately 220 million tons of municipal solid waste or garbage was generated in the United States. This means each person generated an average of 4.46 pounds of solid waste per day (EPA). In 1998 oil, coal, and natural gas consumption in America exceeded rate of production in America ( USGS ). The data of 1998 revealed American dependence on oil producing countries. The source of oil is imperative for America to stay “open for business”.

Hope can be found in research and education. Citizens of America need to focus less on personal desires and more on needs. It takes individuals to change the bigger picture. Educate citizens about cause and effect, science data and how to analyses it, educate to inspire! Research  alternative energy, climate cycles to create a better future.
